IMPORTANT: you need to logon the lab-computer with your own personal account first, then apply for administrator privileges. The reason is that there is a check if you personally are actually using the computer.
The software used to make administrative changes on the lab-computer is called "Make Me Admin" and if not already installed you can find this in Software Center.
