KI 0706 How do I connect to VPN?

Here you will find instructions on how to connect to VPN with Cisco Secure Client for different computers/devices:
NOTE: Due to changes on mitt.uib.no — to avoid issues, check whether you already have Cisco Secure Client installed before reinstalling it.

Below you will find guides on how to set up and use UiB's VPN.
Windows
  • KI 0637  Connect to VPN from private PC with Windows 10 - 11

Mac

Phone and tablets

Linux

Known issues:

 - I lose internet access when connecting to the VPN.
Suggested solution: Check whether you have any other VPN services installed on your computer. If you do, make sure they are completely turned off and not running in the background.

- I still cannot access the website after activating the VPN.
Suggested solution: Often the website does not detect that you are connected through the VPN. To check this, try opening the website in another browser or perform a “hard reset” of the page. How to do this depends on which browser you are using:
  • (Mac) Safari: Option + Command + E, then Command + R
  • (Mac) Google Chrome / Mozilla Firefox / Microsoft Edge: Command + Shift + R
  • (Windows) Google Chrome / Mozilla Firefox / Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + R
